A different way of preparing for birth.
Practical tools, emotional support and evidence based information - all in one gentle antenatal course

General information about our course

What does the course look like?

We offer weekday live online evening classes, to accommodate your busy lifestyle and ensure the comfort of your own home.

The sessions are one per week over 5 weeks and last up to 2 hours

We will hold an extra session (arranged between all members of the group in a very relaxed way) to meet all the babies when they are born!

What should I have ready for the course?

You will be provided via email with a workbook and all the relevant materials for the course, plus access to additional resources.

You won't need anything else, but you can obviously choose to have a notebook at hand and anything that makes you comfortable.

During the sessions literally feel free to put your feet up, eat and drink, use your favourite blanket in winter or your favourite fan in summer, you can be in your living room or garden, wherever suits you!

What does my booking include?

It guarantees attendance for the mum to be / birthing parent and their birthing partner.

You can start our course any time between 26 and 33 weeks of pregnancy.

Don't worry about calculations, our booking process is very easy to follow and tells you what course to choose.

In case you miss a session, don't worry. The written materials provided will cover all things discussed and there is always time for questions at the end.

Meet the midwife

Valentina

Hello and a warm welcome to Calm Waves.

My name is Valentina. I am originally from Italy (near Venice) and I have been living and practicing as a midwife in the UK since January 2012.

After giving birth to my two lovely daughters, I decided to start running antenatal classes locally in Kent and train with TBR College in perinatal mental wellbeing. I am a 3 step rewind practitioner, but I also support people with managing anxiety. I am also a baby massage instructor and a hypnobirthing teacher.

Due to my background and interest in emotional wellbeing, I decided to launch this course, which has a different twist from the classic antenatal courses normally offered.

I believe that combining clinical midwifery knowledge with a deep-seated understanding of the emotional and physical needs of expectant parents is massive in helping you navigate parenthood, wether it's your first time or not.

I hope to see you soon!
